Adopt a Hound / Mixed (short coat)

Hound / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Trace the Dog needs a home

Hi - my name is Trace and I am a true hound boy. I just want a family that will love me forever.

Here are some very important things you need to know about me

Approximate age/birthdate:  May 16, 2009

Weight/size: ~50 lbs

Housebroken:  mostly ... especially if let outside often (at least 4-5 times/day)

Crate trained:  YES (but may still have accidents if left too long)

Personality:  happy, playful, rowdy,  bossy sometimes

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   YES - that hound nose could take him on some bad journeys

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES – but still pulls

Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK but is anxious

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES with medium/large non-alpha dogs if introduced properly ... he is too rowdy for most smaller dogs (under 25 lbs)

Social with cats:  NO CATS

Good with children:  Hasn’t been around children while in foster care but would probably be fine with older children.  He is big and rowdy and would probably overwhelm younger children.

Adoption fee:  $75

Trace is a handsome hound mix boy. His mother is a small redbone hound mix and dad must have been really handsome, too.  Funny how he and his brothers looked nothing alike and none of them look like Mom.  Even though he has ‘hound genes,’ he has figured out that he likes living inside instead of out hunting in the woods.  Yes, he’s a bit spoiled!

True to his hound heritage, Trace's housebreaking and crate training has been challenging.  He will happily stay in his crate, but he does still have occasional accidents if left for too long.

Trace plays well with his foster siblings most of the time.  He has a little bossy streak and can misbehave unless he’s corrected.  He listens well but has a short memory. Trace definitely needs a fenced yard to play safely in and a family who will work with training him, playing with him, and just loving him.  He is such a sweet boy … very easy to love!  With a strong, consistent person to guide him, he will be a great addition to the family.

If you think Trace might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have 10 or more applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Trace picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
